An overriding Commitment to Safety

DeltaSBD employs a proactive approach to safety. We believe that all incidents can be prevented and strive to achieve zero recordable injuries and a short term goal of being in the top quartile for our industry.

Health, Safety and Compliance Management Plan

The DeltaSBD Health, Safety and Compliance Management Plan (HSCMP) requires that:

  • All DeltaSBD personnel undertake a DeltaSBD induction at the commencement of their employment. A key part of this induction focuses on safety obligations, rules and procedures, personal hazard management and detailed work hazard management;
  • An enhanced recruitment, induction and training scheme for inexperienced personnel is undertaken;
  • A refresher induction for all employees is undertaken at least every twelve (12) months;
  • Further inductions are undertaken for supervisors and managers; and
  • Audits are undertaken to ensure compliance.
In further pursuit of excellence in safety management, DeltaSBD is currently:

  • Reinforcing the use of leading safety indicators such as Take 2's, audits and incident close outs completed, as well as reviewing our current safe work procedures against charges in state legislation;
  • Introducing a cognitive behavior trial program;
  • Investigating a certification for our HSCMP to the relevant Australian Standard AS 4360
Project specific risk assessments are undertaken for each project as part of DeltaSBD's site mobilisation and behavior based safety observations, task analysis, communication sessions, reporting and safety audits are regularly used.

Project Managers and Supervisors are required to participate in health and safety activities including:

  • Competency testing;
  • Toolbox talks;
  • Accident and incident investigations;
  • Rehabilitation;
  • Managing work performance of employees - fitness for work, fatigue management etc; and
  • Workplace inspections and audits.

DeltaSBD has an active Occupational Health and Safety Committee that meets regularly to set and review safety policies and objectives.
